A wedding in Las Vegas is an unforgettable experience. If one decides to do it – it will be a great adventure.
Wedding in Vegas – YES! – some practical information chapel wedding packages contain a very limited number of photos. We also know from experience that they are not pretty pictures taken by a professional photographer.
Las Vegas has other attractions in addition to all the famous casinos! By the way, if you love casinos but you don’t live in Las Vegas or you don’t have physical casinos in your country, we recommend online casinos. Our partners have compiled a list of the best and trusted casinos that give great bonuses to players, such as a welcome bonus.
So where do we start?
These days, it’s easy because we can find everything on the Internet. There are a lot of advertisements for wedding photo shoots that we have to wade through. What can I say from our experience?
- The prices of the sessions vary from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. It all depends on the time spent with the photographer and the number of people involved. Some offer sessions lasting up to three days covering the preparations, the wedding and the reception. Such packages cost several thousand dollars!
- Location! It all depends on what you expect. Finding a photographer for a session on the Strip or by the hotel is easier. It’s more difficult if you think of something else or a more remote location.
- Access to the photos, their quantity and quality. According to what I’ve read on the Internet, some not-so-honest suppliers may demand an additional fee for the rights to the photos. This means that you pay once for the photos and a second time for access to the gallery and the ability to download the photos. In many cases, the number of images from the shoot is limited. In addition, there is also a difference depending on whether the photographer offers photo processing or not.
- The time it takes to receive the images. If the photographer does not offer image processing, you may receive the images immediately after the shoot. In other cases, we may have to wait several weeks.
What search looked like
First of all, you have to find some offers online and send an email with more or less the following questions:
- Is it possible to do the session outside of Vegas, in the desert (this is what we assumed);
- How long such a session should last (at first we had no idea whether it should be 1 hour or maybe 4 hours);
- How many photos and when they might be available;
- And most importantly – how much it would cost. The problem is that many photographers don’t give any price list on their websites so we couldn’t immediately reject offers that were too expensive for us.
What can be learned from the search?
- There is a certain group of photographers who take beautiful fine art photographs. Although some are beautiful the prices for 2-3 hour sessions can be thousands of dollars. Some do not offer sessions shorter than a full day.
- a group of photographers only agree to shoot on the Strip and argue that it is very romantic to have photos by the Paris Hotel. I agree that it is great to have a photo shoot by the Eiffel Tower nevertheless I would prefer to have a photo shoot by the original one, in Paris. Moreover, many don’t want to change location too much, and if they do agree to it, the time taken to go to another location is included in the session time. The longer it takes to change location, the shorter we will shoot.
- If you decide on a session outside of Vegas you need to establish exactly when the session time will be counted from – is it from when you leave Vegas to when you return to Vegas or will it be counted as the time of the actual shoot?
- Sometimes, the photographer can drive us to the location. Generally, this is also negotiable.
- Down payment – this is usually required.
Next, we bring you the story of the wedding photo shoot of young couple Mark and Lilith.
The story of Mark and Lilith
“I was convinced that we had to do it! And no matter how long the search took – we would decide on something.
I exchanged dozens of emails with various photographers (certainly about 20 different ones, who had already been identified from an initial screening of their websites and reviewing price lists if any).
We decided our goal was a 2-hour session outside of Vegas. I really wanted it to be in a desert landscape and I really wanted a photo on an empty road. I just really liked that kind of photography. As for the location, we decided to rely on the photographer – as long as it met my conditions.
The 2-hour session was priced at $180. We took the photos at Red Rock Canyon (about 30 minutes from Vegas). We took dozens of photos. In the end we received about 80 pre-processed photos (without any PhotoShop changes). We took the photos in Red Rock Canyon but in different versions – on the rocks, by the escarpment, on an empty road. The photographer also had props with him – like a chair – if we wanted to use them too. The actual session lasted 2 hours. The commute was not counted towards this time. We arrived at the venue on our own. There were two people – Gus and Ros. Gus took the photos, Ros held the light.
Overall, we very much appreciated all the help they offered us. First of all, they suggested a very nice location. It was possible to do several different versions which actually looked like they were done in different locations.
Secondly, they were both very nice so after some initial trepidation and advice from Gus, at some point we started to enjoy ourselves. Overall we felt at ease throughout the session even though we were doing it for the first time.
Thirdly the contact with them was very good. I received replies very quickly and they contained very comprehensive information.”
